Every February, I participate in the RPM challenge. See if you don't already know about it. In short, I need to write, record and master at least 10 tracks or 30 minutes of music in the month. I'm not really that good at ANY of this, but I've always been especially bad at mastering. For the last two years, I've used Tracktion. For me, one of the best features of this package was the inclusion of Acuma Final Mix, which is an all-in-one multi-band comp with pre- and post-EQ. I could just pick one of the many presets and apply it to each of my tracks and my output could at least hang in there with most of the other stuff being submitted. With the death of Tracktion and the many great features of Reaper, I have decided to switch. But I am really missing Final Mix... I have been playing around with reaXcomp, but I am not getting the same kind of results. I suppose someone could point me to a tutorial on a tortuous multi-step process on how to produce a bangin' track, but in the RPM challenge, time is of the essence. What I need is quick, easy, high-quality mastering solution. Maybe someone can point me to a plug-in or external program that can do what I need. CHEAP is important too - I am just not willing to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on software. Or maybe someone has a plug-in chain they'd like to share? Please help.
