on your xp-30, make sure your Local setting is set to OFF (system->midi(tone #4 key), LOCAL->OFF), otherwise your hearing the internal sound engine as well as the sequenced notes. Next, make sure your midi tracks are receiving in their own channel, the one corresponding to the midi ouput in PT. I have the xp-30 as well, and I know that by default, multi-timbral parts 2 and 3 share the same channel (why that is I don't know, but it's screwy). good luck to ya... pk

RE: Re: Midi Help, Please..

Hi, I'm new to midi. I've started a song by laying down a midi drum track from a DM Pro, and I can hear the part through an Aux track. This worked out fine. Now I want to record a midi bass keyboard track from an XP30. So, I created a new midi track, and laid down a few notes, which I could hear through another aux track as I played them. No problem so far. However, when I try to play back and listen to the Drums and Bass together, I hear a garbled mess. It seems that the midi from the DRUM track is triggering both the DMPro and the XP30. Somehow, my set-up must be wrong. Here's my set-up ( I thought this was called a daisy chain) : For the drum recording, monitoring, and playback: I have an XP30 midi out connected to the digi midi in. The digi midi out goes to the DM Pro midi in. DM Pro Audio outs go to an aux track. To lay down the keyboard bass midi track I had a midi guitar connected to the midi input of the XP 30, and the XP30 audio outs to a new aux track, and the same midi connections as above. To try to play back both tracks, I disconnected the midi guitar from the XP30 midi in, and ran a cable from the DMPro midi thru to the XP30 midi in. This is where the problem is. The XP30 is playing back the drum parts as bass notes instead of just playing back the midi bass part. Can anyone please help? Thank you.
