your problem is 58's as overheads. generally you should be able to record a "full" sounding drum kit with just a pair of overheads, everything else is extra - so do whatever you must to get a good overhead sound; use quality condensers, preferably large diaphrams but if you're on a budget, even cheapo rode nt5 pair will do wonders compared to your current setup. also, it would be good to also have a room mic (condenser) to get real reverb into the mix. always remember, drum kit is a kit and should be recorded as such. it's not a sum of all parts but a drum KIT.
