the new problem (crackling sneaks into live input)

MessageAuthor

previously, on "nym tries to work on music" - reaper wasn't seeing any of my audio devices due to a dead cmos battery. today i was able to work again - but i noticed a new issue. this one, i hope, will be way simpler to solve. listen to the file below: this is me working on my mpc + vstis in reaper. reaper is monitoring 2 stereo inputs from the mpc. notice how it starts off fine, but after a while that crackling creeps into the mix. now, to get rid of this, all i have to do is enter preferences/audio devices (ie close the audio device/reopen it). my dma buffer size is a safe 1024. what else might this be? thanks for the help, gang

note that when i was mucking around, deleting the reaper / reaper appdata folders etc, i lost all my input/output aliases (only the delta ones, not the midi ones for some reason) so it may well be an incorrect setting somewhere.

is it available as a vst plugin? ;) how's your cpu usage during this? something to check: when i had a delta, i remember needing to find the right pci slot for it so that the irq wasn't shared with anything too demanding. you can take a look @ device manager > view > resources > interrupt request. more info about this is available in the delta manual under the troublshooting section, i believe. maybe you put your card into a different slot than it was in before all the trouble?

Also check your power saving settings in the BIOS which were probably reverted to defaults, EIST and C1E for the processor should be turned off.

i get stuff like that if i have VSTi's that have input monitoring on - though cranking up the "live fx processing cpu's" count helps... hth
