New to it all

MessageAuthor

Could someone help a new guy to the game. I have a pair of Resolv 80a as my monitors, for my pro tools LE system. Everytime I record live I have the most annoying "feedback" from the monitors (buzzing noise) that gets recorded along with my music. I'm not sure how to combat this, or entirely rid of the problem. Could anyone let me know how I can resolve this issue? Cheers,

RE: New to it all

You're best muting your monitors while recording, as a microphone will pick up the sound from them and recycle it back to them over and over again until they mount up to a loud buzzing or screeching... much like you'll get with excessive use of a delay effect. Record using just the headphones, and be sure to disarm any tracks for recording before turning the monitors back up. That is, if it's feedback you're experiencing. When you say 'buzzing', perhaps it could be a faulty wire somewhere? If it only comes to the fore when you're recording, I'd check all guitar leads, mic leads, basically all the inputs INTO your MBox or interface. Hope that helps. Bit of a novice myself, but you know yourself, you learn more in the first few weeks than anytime else!

Thanks Guys, I don't get any such feedback from my monitors when recording through any mics hooked to the rack. The problem occurs with my Korg keyboard directly plugged into the rack. When I record-enable the track from the korg I immediatly get a buzzing noise through the monitors. Do you think I could have a faulty connection to the rack from my korg...??

i have a korg synth and direct input this into my 001 - i have no 'buzzing' problems. Have you tried putting the volume output on your synth to maximum and lowering the gain on the input on your 002? Have you tried using another audio out on your synth?
