Seem to remember there was a recall on the lighting switch some years ago. Suggest you replace the lighting switch they are not expensive.

thanks for the quick reply chris, when you say lighting switch are you referring to the main light switch fir selecting side/ dipped beams?

Yes , it can be removed by pushing from behind once the lower dash cover is removed.
