Anyone know what year Ford took over making Volvos ? What was the 1st ford made volvo , wasnt the 850 was it ???

ford bought volvo in 1999 for 50Bn swedish Kronas. not sure what the first car was though

It was just after the first S80 was launched. I think the first S60 was also already under development & close to launch, so the 2nd generation S40 would be the first Volvord.

My God!:omg_smile: You call yourselves Volvo enthusiasts, it was the 2nd generation S40 in '04. The XC90 came before that in 2003 (originally planned for late 2002 but delayed due to ship sinking carrying the first batch) but development on that had started before the takeover, Ford had nothing to do with the development at all.

The S70/V70 MY 1997 and 1998 have a black background on the Volvo grille badge. The S70/V70MY 1999 onwards have a blue background on the Volvo grille badge. I was under the impression that the blue backed Volvo badge signified the Ford take over. Here's a link dated 30th January 1999:
