Heated rear side screen

I've just viewed a 2005 V50 2.0D S and I'm seriously thinking of buying it. However, there appears to be a rear heated side screen (orange zig zag element in it) on the offside driver's side. I thought it seemed strange not to be on the opposite side where it would be more in the line of sight when reversing around a left side corner. I looked at a couple of V70's at the same dealer and they had similar rear heated side screens but they are on the nearside passenger's side where I'm sure it will be more effective. Is this the same on all V50's? Does it depend on where they were built compared with V70's? This won't affect my decision to buy, but I would like to know as it does seem rather strange.

I think you will find that this is not a heated screen, but is the radio aeriel (sp!). Mine is on the passenger side, never seen one on the drivers side?

Oodly enough I;ve just checked my Dutch V50 and it's also on the passenger side (which would be the drivers side on a UK one...) Wonder if it's placed depending on target market???
