Hello everybody, Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place... I'm having a problem with REAPER. I just got an electric guitar and I connected it to my computer by plugging it in the Line-In jack. I would like to be able to record the sound of my guitar in REAPER 3.5. The question is, how do I set up REAPER so as to record the sound coming from the Line-In? Thank you in advance, Mike
First question: Why don't you use the latest Reaper-version? Second: Are you using the pc line in? (Onboard soundcard) Then, you'll find some info here:
Yes, I am using an onboard sound card. I have read the pages that you gave me in the link, but still, I don't understand how to set up REAPER properly... Should I get an ASIO4all driver, or what? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this. So far I've been using REAPER to record things with a mic, and this is the first time I am attempting to record the sound coming from line-in.
You will need a preamp to boost your guitar to line level signal. An electric guitar is what's called "instrument level" and is too tiny to match with a line in.

Save yourself some trouble, and (at least) get a cheap audio interface with preamp and jack-input (DI). Like this one: (I have no idea if that specific unit is good or bad, it was the cheapest)
