Dash Cup Holder

MessageAuthor

Just got a new S60 D5 and didn't have the telephone pack.. Instead there is a "Cup Holder" which to me is a complete waste of space... Not even sensible to hold a mobile phone either --- Can it be removed and leave a nice clean hole??? or is there a bit of kit that can replace this silly cup holder -- with something that can hold a mobile phone.. BTW I have managed to remove the other two cup holders from the central box... Help please Maurice

As far as I know its the cup holder or the phone & no other options............its a pretty decent cup holder though. Cheers Dave

I think it's a stupid place to put it as well. Sure you shouldn't be drinking/eating when driving but it's so easy to cover the controls in your favourite beverage! Vipes

RE: Dash Cup Holder

The centre console is the same on LHD & RHD cars, so its location is fine if your steering wheel is on the wrong side (if you have the phone it makes sense on a LHD car). AFAIK the cupholder itself is an accessory (as with the ones in the armrest) that for some reason VCUK have decided we must have as standard - I've seen pics of US cars that have a cubby-hole where the cup holder/phone. Found this link for installing the cup-holder and it refers to removing the "centre console locker" I assume a "locker" (strange name as it's not locakable) may be available from Volvo.

Looks like they changed the link again as it worked when I first put it up back in July - although the main site seems to work OK. Have uploaded the instructions as PDF:

RE: Dash Cup Holder

best thing about this cup holder is that you can put a cup in it when your trying to change a bulb as the rest of the car is not so well designed
